Sto-Rob History

A Bit About Us

The name of our kennel.....Sto-Rob.....was established in 1982 when we began showing American Staffordshire Terriers.  My name is Stephanie Roberts and my chosen life partner's name is Jim Stokes.  Sto-Rob was the name that we chose to represent our kennel.  We reside in the great state of Texas.  We were very successful with our Am-Staffs and at one time had the first three A.K.C. / U.K.C. dual registered champions in the state.  Our foundation bitch finished number 16 in the country with very limited showing.  We were so new to the dog show world that we didnt even realize that there was a rating system.  We won the Texas Specialty with one of our bitches and took Reserve Winners with a nine month old puppy dog the same year.  We enjoyed the breed and still love them today.  We decided that when we were no longer able to run around the ring with the big guys we would have French Bulldogs.

When our old girl went to the Rainbow Bridge in 1998 we decided to actively begin our search for our first frenchie.  We traveled to shows in our three state area and even traveled to the National show, held in Minnesota in 1999 to study the breed and meet people.  We met a wonderful woman along the way by the name of Linda Moore of Concharty French Bulldogs.  She entrusted us with a little girl who is the apple of my eye.  Her name is Dolly and she gave us a gorgeous boy Ch. Sto-Rob's Just A Sample, who finished easily.  Dolly hated showing and I was content to let her be my "little huntress and guardian of the garden".  We got our second girl from Sammie Day of Fairytale Kennels.

Ch. Fairytale's Dream of Sto-Rob was an incredible bitch who started us on our way.  She presented us with what I called the Rainbow Litter of four.  Three of those pups finished their championship before their first birthday, the fourth was like my Dolly, she hated showing.

And so it began and continues to today.  We strive to only breed if we feel it will benefit the breed, and we breed for us first and foremost.  Health testing is critically important in this endeavor.  Without utilizing current health testing services we would never know if what we are producing is as sound as possible.  Much thought and study goes in to the planning of each union.  We typically only have one or two litters a year.  We place our show puppies very carefully with co-ownership contracts.  Our pet puppies are placed on spay/ neuter contracts, without exception.

I am a member of the French Bulldog Club of America.  Their website is a wonderful place to gain knowledge of the breed.  There you can study their attributes and their health issues.

I am also a member of the French Bulldog Rescue Network....FBRN....A fabulous organization that is all about rescuing and rehabilitating frenchies in need.  It is my hope that you will find it in your heart to make a donation to help in this effort.  Or, perhaps you might be interested in becoming a Volunteer.

Please visit their respective websites, which i have listed on my Websites Page to learn more about frenchies.
